Who it’s for
Who it’s for, and who it isn’t
The week is written from the research we cite, then bent around sleep, travel, and kids. Questions go to support@ridgework.org.
Built for
- A first 20 km trail or a first 50 km, trained around a job
- Longer days too: 100 km, alpine days, linked routes, expeditions
- People who train for months, not for a session
Not for
- Injury diagnosis or treatment
- A live personal trainer in your pocket
- Emergency or mountain-rescue guidance
The week comes from papers, not a mood
Easy volume, one hard session if you are fresh, a taper into the day. Those patterns are on the method page with the citations. They are a starting week, not a diagnosis.
Life is an input
Missed Tuesday, a work trip, a short night. The plan names the change and why. The peak date stays unless you move it.
A person answers
support@ridgework.org is a person. Methods stay the same from week to week. You still decide in the mountains.
Log once
Slept badly, or Tuesday did not happen. One session changes. The ready date stays.
Who writes the weeks
Built by an alpinist with over ten years in the Alps and the Andes, including new routes on 6,000 m+ peaks.
Ultra trail finishes too, as a finisher, not a podium.
The mountain plans come from that experience. The trail plans come from the research on the method page, checked against running them.
What you get
- 01
Weeks written back from a ready date
You say when the race or the outing has to be ready. Then easy weeks, weeks toward the day, shorter weeks into it. If you have weeks to spare, the easy ones can grow.
- 02
The log changes the next day
You mark how the last session felt. If it was wrecked, or something hurts, the next hard day is rewritten easier. Foster (2001) and Bourdon et al. (2017) are why: internal load is a planning number, not a diagnosis. The peak date stays.
- 03
A week that fits a job
Five days, three to five hours. Strength at home. Friday and Sunday stay clear.
- 04
Training log
Note what you did and why you changed load, so next week is grounded in the week you had.
